A heartbreaking moment when the abandoned dog named Electra understands her owners will not come back

Let’s get acquainted with this interesting story about a dog, named Electra. This is the heartbreaking moment-terrier mix Electra realizes her owners are not coming back. Electra  is a beautiful dog, who has had a tough life.

The four-year-old pit bull mix was surrendered to a dog shelter by her family. There is nothing new about dogs being given up for adoption and in some cases, to be put down. But it is the visceral reaction Electra had when she realized she has been left behind that has thousands of people weeping.

A video taken and shared on Facebook of the puppy’s face the moment she realized her family was not coming back for her has gone viral. This dog now represents a symbol for thrown dogs at animal shelters in the world.

The video of pitbull-terrier mix Electra being left at Inland Valley Humane Society, in California, earlier this month has been viewed by nearly 330,000 people – some of whom have been left in tears by her story.

There are thousands of comments about the impact Electra had on the public such as ‘Her sad eyes made my heart hurt’ and “this kills me. Those eyes. She’s so scared. The wagging tail. She’s still wants to give love. Dogs are so selfless.”

The video was uploaded by Lolys Menchaka, an animal activist in California who has kept the public updated on Electra including the fact that she has been adopted.

Electra is not the first or the last pup that will face life in a shelter. But she is the one that has put a face to the sadness and realities of shelter life for so many dogs.

I know how this beautiful girl felt, when I basically was evicted by my eldest son and his girlfriend and having to move interstate “homeless” at the age of 63. Before moving I had to have my fur baby put down after loving me for 16 years because I had nowhere to keep her safe while I was homeless. I finally have a home but, only after having to give away most of my furniture and more to fit into a tiny unit.
